Revelation & Revenge
Confronting Christian Nationalism
A sharp, accessible look at how modern rapture theology shapes today's politics and culture. The book argues that rapture theology is a 19th-century invention, not ancient scripture.
About Westar
Our story
Westar began in 1985 when Robert W. Funk invited 30 New Testament scholars to join him in the Jesus Seminar, a collaborative inquiry into the historical Jesus.
Since then Westar has held a series of innovative seminars on the origins of Christianity. Funk's vision went beyond scholarship for its own sake. He wanted religious literacy to be as common as reading, writing and arithmetic. Every book, recording and paper in this store carries that mission forward.
- Does the Bible say anything about same-sex relationships?
- Did women have authority in the early Jesus movements?
- How did the earliest Christian communities understand morality?
